Bali...

So I finally visited the famous hot destination Bali. After a couple of hours delays the plane took off from Jakarta and so subsequently landed 2 hours later, around 9pm. So there was not much I could do that night. I had been warned by my dear friend in Jakarta to be careful about taxis and she advised I stick to the blue bird taxi company, as their prices were the most reasonable. I paid at the airport and was surprised at how expensive it was compared to Jakarta.  Although it was dark, I was still impressed by the sight of Bali. Very different from Jakarta, and of course not as busy, more organised, pretty and with a very Asian charm.  The hotel I stayed which was chosen by my friend and husband who I was meeting in Bali, was ok but do not think it's a hotel I personally would have gone for, but absolutely no complaints. The hotel 'artotel' as it is called, is very artsy, hip and very cool. I tend to go for more traditional. The rooms were big, bed alright and ...

The beautiful and historical island of Malta...

I visited the interesting, beautiful and spiritual island of Malta with my bestie last year. It was very exciting, as it was my first time there, and there is this thrill with  discovering a place for the first time. I was surprised as there was no uber at all on the island, but there were taxi services which were great but it was a bummer to hear they didn't accept credit cards. I found out later, many places on the island did not use credit card so don't forget to take euros. The ride from the airport was like driving back in time, but the driver gave me a quick rundown of the island and told that the place was very safe (something I noticed), and that people were super friendly and helpful as they appreciated the fact that tourists were a huge contributor to the economy.  A quick walk  around the area my hotel was, and I noticed a lot of restaurants served mostly Italian food and rabbit stew.  The island is remarkably clean and the night life is very...

My favourite destination...

There is a country my husband and I keep going every year at least twice, and that is Thailand. I went there for the first time over 3 years ago, and I fell in love and it's been a love fest  ever since.  Hospitality has been fine tuned over there, and expect to be spoilt in pretty much every hotel you stay. There is this simplicity of life, free of pretensions, an escape from the hustle and bustle of life back home (excluding Bangkok) that I totally long for and cherish in Thailand. The food is to die for, and any restaurant on the street, is just as good, believe me you don't need any fancy restaurants here, especially  as the ambience and energy of the 'mum and pop' restaurants also add to part of the experience.  Then there is the cheap and delicious cocktails to assuage your thirst or perhaps to relax and escape from the heat. I hear the beer is very good as well, but I wouldn't know as I don't drink beer. Then there is the plethora ...

Gipsy soul

As of today I have lived in the continents of Africa, Europe, North America and Asia, then also visited 35 countries and counting. As is evident, I love to travel but the truth is, I love to escape be it in books, day dreams or somewhere far away. So please join me on my adventures and let us travel to old and new places together. I will try and write about some of my old trips in between new and future trips. Sincerely yours, Osa
